Alex’s Story in Digital Marketing
Even while in high school Alex was spending free-time using rudimentary versions of today’s technology. Free Content Management Systems through WordPress, Geocities, LiveJournal and Myspace made website publishing easier than ever before. Creative tools through Corel, Quark, Macromedia and Avid were beginning to allow small teams or individuals to create professional content from home.
A Special Program at
Bowling Green State University
In 2005, Alex decided to attend Bowling Green State University in a unique program call Visual Communication Technology (VCT). This unique program created by entrepreneur and Author Gene Poor, was designed knowing that the landscape for using technology for marketing and business was beginning the flourish. The VCT program was a fresh idea that combined coursework and practice from all across the University:
- Computer Science to program in VBA, C++, and using SQL.
- Graphic Design practice for page layout, color, and inspiration
- Asset Creation through Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamworks, and Flash
- Professional Photo and Video Production, Equipment and editing, (Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere Pro)
- Website Development using HTML, CSS, AS 2.0, AS 3.0
- Sales, Finance, Accounting, Branding through the College of Business
